1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Truessay ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Truessay. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

2. Description of Service

Truessay is an AI-powered academic writing assistant that generates research essays with verified academic citations. The Service:

• Uses Google Gemini AI to generate research content
• Searches 200M+ academic papers via Semantic Scholar and OpenAlex APIs
• Provides citations in multiple academic formats (APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, IEEE)
• Supports multilingual essay generation (11 languages)
• Offers subscription tiers with different quota limits

3. Account Registration and Security

3.1 Registration

• You must register using Google OAuth authentication
• You must provide accurate and complete information
• You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service
• One account per person; sharing accounts is prohibited

3.2 Account Security

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account
• You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• We are not liable for losses due to unauthorized use of your account

4. Subscription Plans and Billing

4.1 Subscription Tiers

• Free Tier: 1 essay per day, limited features
• Monthly Subscription: Unlimited essays, priority generation, all features
• Yearly Subscription: Same as monthly with 20% discount

4.2 Payment Processing

• All payments are processed securely through Stripe
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled
• You authorize us to charge your payment method for recurring fees
• We accept major credit cards and currencies (USD, GBP, EUR, AUD)
• All payment and billing issues are subject to Stripe's terms

4.3 Price Changes

We reserve the right to modify subscription prices with 30 days' notice. Changes apply to new subscriptions and renewals after the notice period.

4.4 Cancellation

• You may cancel your subscription at any time via the billing portal
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• You retain access until the end of the paid period
• No refunds for partial months or unused quota

5. AI-Generated Content and Disclaimers

5.1 Nature of AI Content

IMPORTANT: Content generated by the Service is produced using artificial intelligence (Google Gemini). AI-generated content:

• May contain inaccuracies, errors, or outdated information
• Should be reviewed, verified, and edited before submission
• Is not a substitute for human research and critical thinking
• May not always correctly interpret complex academic concepts

5.2 No Warranties

WE PROVIDE THE SERVICE "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE:

• Accuracy, completeness, or reliability of generated content
• That content will meet academic standards or institutional requirements
• That citations are correct or complete
• That the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free

5.3 Your Responsibility

YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Verifying the accuracy of all generated content and citations
• Ensuring compliance with your institution's academic integrity policies
• Properly disclosing AI assistance where required
• Any consequences resulting from use or submission of generated content

6. Academic Integrity and Acceptable Use

6.1 Academic Integrity

Truessay is designed to assist with research and learning. We expect users to:

• Use the Service as a research aid and learning tool
• Review, edit, and add original analysis to generated content
• Comply with all institutional policies regarding AI assistance
• Properly cite sources and disclose AI usage where required
• Not submit AI-generated content as entirely original work

6.2 Prohibited Uses

You may NOT use the Service to:

• Violate academic integrity policies or honor codes
• Generate content for commercial resale or distribution
• Circumvent quota limits or share accounts
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or abuse the Service
• Generate illegal, harmful, or offensive content
• Impersonate others or provide false information
• Attempt to access other users' data or accounts

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Service Ownership

The Service, including its software, algorithms, design, and branding, is owned by Truessay and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works.

7.2 Generated Content

You retain ownership of:

• Original research queries you submit
• Edits and modifications you make to generated content

By using the Service, you grant us a license to:

• Process your queries to generate content
• Use anonymized and aggregated data to improve the Service
• We do NOT claim ownership of your generated essays

7.3 Academic Sources

Citations and references to academic papers remain subject to the copyright of their respective authors and publishers. We provide access for research purposes only.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• NO LIABILITY FOR CONTENT: We are not liable for inaccuracies, errors, or consequences arising from AI-generated content
• NO LIABILITY FOR ACADEMIC VIOLATIONS: We are not liable for academic integrity violations, penalties, or grade disputes
• LIMITED DAMAGES: Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim
• NO CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES: We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• THIRD-PARTY SERVICES: We are not liable for issues with Google, Stripe, Cloudflare, or academic APIs

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Truessay from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

• Your use or misuse of the Service
• Violation of these Terms or applicable laws
• Infringement of intellectual property or privacy rights
• Academic integrity violations or institutional penalties

10. Termination

10.1 Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time by canceling your subscription and contacting support to delete your account.

10.2 Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms or our policies
• Engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
• Fail to pay subscription fees
• Use the Service for prohibited purposes

Termination does not entitle you to a refund. We reserve the right to delete your data after termination.
